HB 216 – Physician Support Letters Needed!
Click HERE for a sample letter you can share
On January 20, 2016, proponent testimony will begin on H.B. 216, OAAPN’s APRN Modernization Bill. It has been a long time coming and your help is needed! If you know a physician who is in favor of the bill, please ask them NOW to write a letter of support! This letter should not be lengthy and should focus on why mandated and regulated collaboration is not beneficial to Ohio’s healthcare systems and/or citizens. All members of the healthcare team work within the framework of inter-professional collaboration for the benefit of each patient. For our CRNA colleagues who know physicians supportive of H.B. 216, please ask those physicians to write a letter supporting CRNAs having the ability to order medications in the perioperative environment and clinical support functions, stressing patient safety and comfort.
These letters should be brief (no longer than one page) and sent via email to Representative Gonzales (Chair, Ohio House Health and Aging Committee) at: firstname.lastname@example.org AND to Representative Pelanda (the bill’s sponsor) at: email@example.com. For physicians who work in hospital systems, we ask that their letters reflect their personal opinions and no disclosure of the system where they work. These letters must be sent no later than 1/19/2016. We need to show that there are more physicians than not who are in support of modernizing APRN practice. There is no time to waste. Start asking now and follow up: Our bill depends on it.
