Revisions to SCA & Formulary Rules Affect All Prescribing APRNs
Thursday, February 4, 2016
The Ohio Board of Nursing (the “Board”) has revised a number of its administrative rules that relate to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). These changes will affect APRN practice and prompt revisions to APRN Standard Care Arrangements (SCAs) relating to prescriptive authority, quality assurance, verification of the collaborating physician’s license, and timing for SCA review. The revisions are effective February 1, 2016.
Additionally, the Committee on Prescriptive Governance (CPG) updated the format of the prescriptive formulary (the “Formulary”) in 2015, and this may affect some SCA provisions.
This alert addresses the Board rule and Formulary revisions that have a direct effect on APRN practice and SCA requirements.
